Grip-focused baseline options, including softer, firmer, glow, and UV-reactive variations.

BaselineGrip

Ration

  • Blend: Baseline plastic

BaselineSoft

Soft Ration

  • Blend: Soft baseline
  • Feel: Softer, more flexible, and extra grippy
  • Pinehurst pick for: Putters, approaches, cold weather, and reduced ground play

Soft Ration is the softer, more flexible, extra-grippy baseline option.

Pinehurst take: Choose Soft Ration over standard Ration when you want more flex and a softer landing.
BaselineUV

Soft Ration UV

  • Blend: Soft baseline
  • Feel: Soft and flexible
  • Feature: UV reactive
  • Pinehurst pick for: Soft baseline feel with UV reactivity

Soft Ration UV is a separate UV-reactive plastic from standard Soft Ration.

BaselineFirm

Ration Firm

  • Blend: Baseline plastic
  • Feel: Stiffer than standard Ration
  • Pinehurst pick for: Players who want baseline grip with a firmer release

Ration Firm is the stiffer baseline Ration option.

BaselineGlow

Ration Glow

  • Blend: Ration base plastic
  • Feature: Glows in the dark
  • Pinehurst pick for: Glow putting and short-range glow work

Ration Glow keeps the baseline Ration lane while adding glow capability.

Section 02

Core Premium Plastics

Durable premium options with different stiffness, transparency, grip, and visual character.

PremiumOpaque

Survival

  • Blend: Premium plastic
  • Feel: Grippy and durable
  • Look: Opaque
  • Pinehurst pick for: Everyday throwers and a first Doomsday premium plastic

Survival is Doomsday's opaque premium lane with grip and durability built into the blend.

Pinehurst take: Start with Survival when you want the most straightforward opaque premium option.
PremiumTranslucent

Isolation

  • Blend: Premium plastic
  • Feel: Durable and long wearing
  • Look: Clear or translucent
  • Pinehurst pick for: Players who prefer translucent premium plastic

Isolation is a clear or translucent premium blend built for long-lasting use.

Pinehurst take: Choose Isolation over Survival when translucent premium plastic is the feel and look you prefer.
PremiumGlow

Glow Isolation

  • Blend: Premium glow
  • Feature: Glows in the dark
  • Also called: Isolation Glow
  • Pinehurst pick for: Durable glow throwers and night rounds

Glow Isolation is a premium, glow-in-the-dark plastic.

PremiumFirm

Shockwave

PremiumSpecialty

Clandestine

  • Blend: Premium plastic
  • Feel: Durable and somewhat stiff
  • Look: Sparkle or specialty finishes on some runs
  • Pinehurst pick for: Firmer premium feel and specialty runs

Clandestine is a durable, somewhat stiff premium option that can carry a sparkle finish.

Section 03

Catastrophic, Visual, and Specialty Plastics

Premium, glow, recycled, and visual blends with some of Doomsday's most recognizable material identities.

PremiumCatastrophic

Toxic Waste

  • Blend: Premium plastic
  • Feel: Long lasting
  • Look: Dirty, splotchy, post-apocalyptic color character
  • Pinehurst pick for: Everyday premium throwers with classic Doomsday styling

Toxic Waste pairs premium durability with the dirty, splotchy visual character associated with the blend.

Pinehurst take: Choose Toxic Waste over Biohazard when you want a more conventional premium feel instead of a gummy, flexible one.
PremiumGummy

Biohazard

  • Blend: Premium plastic
  • Feel: Gummy, flexible, and grippy
  • Pinehurst pick for: Players who prefer flex over a stiff premium feel

Biohazard is the softer, more flexible premium direction in the Catastrophic lineup.

PremiumFirm

Fatal

  • Blend: Premium plastic
  • Feel: Firmer than Toxic Waste or Biohazard
  • Pinehurst pick for: Clean releases and players who dislike gummy plastic

Fatal is the firmer premium direction when you want less flex than Toxic Waste or Biohazard.

PremiumGlow

Radioactive Waste

  • Blend: Premium glow
  • Feel: Grippy and durable
  • Feature: Glows in the dark
  • Look: Often carries a splotchy black Toxic Waste effect
  • Pinehurst pick for: Glow rounds with Catastrophic visual character

Radioactive Waste combines glow function with the dirty, splotchy look associated with Toxic Waste.

RecycledRegrind

Landfill

  • Blend: Recycled and regrind plastic
  • Look: Commonly darker colors, including military-green tones
  • Run note: Some runs can have minor cosmetic imperfections
  • Pinehurst pick for: Recycled plastic fans and value throwers

Landfill uses recycled and regrind material that would otherwise be discarded. Mixed recycled colors make the final appearance less predictable from run to run.

SpecialtyArchive

Uranium

  • Blend: Early test blend
  • Look: Sparkly on documented runs
  • Feel: Durable and semi-flexible on documented runs
  • Pinehurst pick for: Older runs and collectors

Uranium is best understood run by run rather than as a universal modern core blend.

PremiumVisual

Retina

  • Blend: Premium plastic
  • Feel: Exact stiffness can vary by run
  • Pinehurst pick for: Premium throwers and visually distinctive stock

Retina is a premium plastic seen across Doomsday molds including the Chemtrail, Psyop, and Oblivion.

PremiumGlow

Retina Glow

  • Blend: Premium glow
  • Look: Mix of opaque and glow material
  • Also called: Glow Retina
  • Pinehurst pick for: Glow players who also care about visual presentation

Retina Glow mixes opaque and glow-in-the-dark material. Color layout can vary by run.

SpecialtyGlow Particle

Starfield

  • Feature: Glow particles inside the disc
  • Look: Starry glow effect
  • Glow note: The main disc body does not glow like a traditional full-glow blend
  • Pinehurst pick for: Collectors and players who want a different glow visual

Starfield uses glowing particles inside the plastic to create its effect while the main body stays non-glow.

Section 04

Flexible, Rubber, and Test Blends

Utility-focused materials where flex, ground behavior, or experimental run characteristics are the main story.

PremiumFlexible

Collapse

  • Blend: Premium plastic, not rubber
  • Feel: Very flexible and foldable
  • Ground behavior: Designed to stick where it lands
  • Pinehurst pick for: Approaches where skip and rollaway control matter

Collapse is an intentionally flexible premium plastic that can fold without moving into a rubber blend.

RubberVery Soft

Bologna

  • Blend: Rubber
  • Feel: Extremely floppy
  • Ground behavior: Designed to stick when it hits the ground or chains
  • Pinehurst pick for: Sticky approaches and minimal ground play

Bologna is the extreme-flex rubber lane rather than a soft premium plastic.

RubberGlow

Radioactive Bologna Rubber

  • Blend: Rubber
  • Feel: Extremely floppy
  • Feature: Glows in the dark
  • Pinehurst pick for: Glow approaches and very low ground play

Radioactive Bologna Rubber adds glow capability to the very soft Bologna rubber lane.

Test RunExperimental

Ignition

  • Blend: Experimental test blend
  • Feel: Less flexible than Collapse on the documented Depth Charge test run
  • Run note: The documented test batch had heavily warped flight plates
  • Pinehurst pick for: Collectors and test-run buyers

Ignition should be evaluated by the specific test run rather than treated as a normal core plastic.

Naming, Features, and Archive Notes

X-Out, Misprint, and Factory Second

These labels describe condition, cosmetics, stamp issues, or factory-second status. They are not plastic families. The actual plastic should still be identified separately.

Lightweight

Lightweight describes the disc's weight, not automatically a separate plastic family. Check the individual listing for the actual blend.

UV

UV describes a reactive feature, not a standalone plastic name. Soft Ration UV is listed separately above as its own plastic.

Older Plastic Names

You may encounter older Doomsday plastic names such as C-4, Weapons Grade, Meltdown, Fallout, and Abduction. Doomsday used C-4 on early FRAG runs and Weapons Grade on firmer baseline FRAG and Land Mine runs. Early Plague stock used Meltdown and Fallout, Famine prototypes used Meltdown and Uranium, and early Flat Earth stock used Abduction. Doomsday later reused Fallout as the name of a test fairway driver, so context matters. Pinehurst treats these as legacy terms unless a specific disc listing says otherwise.

Common questions

Doomsday Plastic FAQ

What is the best Doomsday plastic for a beginner?

Plastic alone does not make a mold beginner friendly. Mold speed and stability matter more. Pinehurst pick: Ration or Soft Ration for an approachable baseline feel, or Survival if you want to start in premium plastic.

What is the best all-around Doomsday premium plastic?

Pinehurst pick: Survival. It is the straightforward opaque premium lane with grip and durability. If you prefer clear or translucent premium plastic, start with Isolation.

What is the most durable Doomsday plastic?

There is not one universal answer for every mold and run. Survival, Isolation, Toxic Waste, Fatal, Clandestine, and other premium blends are built for more durability than baseline plastic. Pinehurst pick: Isolation if durable translucent plastic is specifically what you want.

Which Doomsday plastics glow?

Glow options in this guide include Glow Isolation or Isolation Glow, Radioactive Waste, Retina Glow, Ration Glow, and Radioactive Bologna Rubber. Starfield uses glowing particles rather than a traditional full-glow body.

What is the difference between Ration and Survival?

Ration is baseline plastic. Survival is an opaque premium plastic with grip and added durability.

What is the difference between Survival and Isolation?

Both are premium choices. Survival is the opaque premium lane, while Isolation is clear or translucent and built for long-lasting use.

What is the difference between Toxic Waste and Biohazard?

Toxic Waste is a long-lasting premium blend with dirty, splotchy visual character. Biohazard is the gummier, more flexible premium direction.

What is the difference between Fatal and Biohazard?

Fatal is the firmer premium direction. Biohazard is softer and gummier.

What is Landfill plastic?

Landfill is Doomsday's recycled and regrind plastic. Mixed recycled colors commonly create darker shades, and some runs can show minor cosmetic variation.

Which Doomsday plastics reduce ground play?

Pinehurst pick: Start with Collapse, Bologna, Radioactive Bologna Rubber, or Soft Ration. Collapse is flexible premium plastic, Bologna and Radioactive Bologna are rubber, and Soft Ration is a softer baseline option.

Is X-Out a Doomsday plastic?

No. X-Out describes factory-second or discounted condition, not the plastic itself. The actual plastic should be listed separately.

Is Starfield the same as normal glow plastic?

No. Starfield uses glowing particles inside the plastic while the main disc body does not glow like a traditional full-glow blend.

Will the same mold fly exactly the same in every plastic?

No. Dome, stability, grip, and other run characteristics can change between plastics and runs. Use this guide to choose the material lane, then evaluate the specific mold and run.
